How To Stay Organized This Summer

Are you an organization freak like me? Do you get excited about the container store? Or are you totally lost? Well, summer is definitely the perfect time to figure this out. Even though cleaning your home might feel exhausting or overwhelming, I cannot emphasize how fantastic you’ll feel once you do so! Here are a few tips of the trade to get the ball rolling. Happy cleaning!

USE A TIMER

The best way to get big projects such as cleaning your home done is to use a timer. While in theory it would be fantastic to do the whole house in one day – ha – we’ve all been there and know that it’s probably not going to happen! It’s essential to choose one area of one room at a time. Yes, that’s right, the smaller the area the better! This is where your timer comes in. Choose how many minutes or hours you would like to spend and then stick to your world. Set you timer for that exact amount do not go over! Repeat this process every day until the area is clean. Nannies, perhaps you could print out a fun spreadsheet for your family to keep track of their progress!

UTILIZE PINTEREST

I’m not going to lie; Pinterest does have the tendency to overwhelm me. That being said, Pinterest is a great tool that completely pertains to the concept of organization. Nannies: ask your host families if they have a particular room they’d like to get started on first and then do your research from there. Check out these pages that I recommend or create your own Pinboard and present it to your family!

GO OUT AND SPLURGE

Sometimes a key ingredient in this equation is to, yes, actually go on a little splurge. I’m not talking about anything huge per se, but buying a few organizational items for your home can feel exciting. And it’s often this feeling of excitement that can motivate us to accomplish the task at hand. In this case: cleaning. Set aside a budget for yourself BEFORE you leave your house. If you only want to spend $200, great, then that’s your budget. The Container Store and Bed, Bath, and Beyond truly do have some uniquely delightful products that are cheap and go a long way. When is the last time you treated yourself to some fun, nifty organizational tools? Ready, set, clean!
